I have been in the south for almost 30 years and never eaten grits. I really hadn't had an opportunity. I don't think I've ever seen it on a menu in our area of Texas. I kind of thought in my mind that grits was like cream of wheat. . . . . . I'm not sure why I thought that, but it looks like cream of wheat. On this trip to Nags Head I had the opportunity. . . . . we were at a "Stackem High". . . . grits was on the menu. . . . . my daughter said . . . . . "Mom try em" . . . . . . so I did. . . . . . I asked the grit eaters at the table how to season them. I got various options, but I chose the butter and syrup option. . . . . you know what. . . . I think I can go another 30 years and not eat grits. I guess that grits is something you have to grow up with or be really hungry to eat. . . . I decided that I would rather use my calories some other way than on grits. I can proudly say, "I'm not a Grits Girl."
I'll put some pictures up of the food we eat in the South East when I get home.
Til then. . . .
Ciao
