I have decided that the Italians in Italy have it right. They eat lots of carbs, drink lots of wine, rest in the afternoon for a couple of hours, and laugh a lot. Doesn't that sound like they have the prescription for health.
What have I observed about the real Italians. . . . . . I have observed that they move. . . . . they ride bikes and walk for transportation. They get to and from long distances on public transportation, but they mostly live close to the area where they work.
What else have I learned. . . . . all the little things about myself have originated here. Oh how they love to hang their laundry out. . . . . for me it is more than saving energy it is the act of being outside in the fresh air. I love that the clothes are stiff and fresh smelling when you take them off the line. . . . .We have seen clothes hanging in big and small cities. . . . . thanks to my ancestors for giving me that wonderful gift.
I have learned that Italians are loud. . . . . that is something that I have often been told . . . . . I never realized that I was loud. . . . . I often have found it curious that others have said that about me. . . . . now I know about loud. . . . . Italians are loud happy people. Now when I am told that I am to loud. . . . . I will smile. . . . . . I know that we are a loud culture. . . . . I'm ok.
More posts later as I discover more about my roots and myself. 21 days in Italy will make me a better citizen of this world.
Ciao
