A story about Allie the newest member of the family. Our Texas weather has been very unusual. We had one of the coldest winters I've seen since I came to Texas 30 years ago. When I walk Dexter I get a chance to meet all the dogs in the neighborhood. One little Terrier dog stole my heart. She was in a yard with many other small dogs. I would come talk to her and pet her daily. She was kept outside all the time. When the weatherman last wintr eput out an advisory that said to make sure to take all the pets in the house, I got worried about Allie. Terriers don't have very much fur. There were other little dogs out in that yard, but they really didn't have sufficient shelter against record cold.
It bothered me so much on that cold winter day that as I passed the house on my way home from work, I stopped and knocked on the door. After introducing myself as the lady who pets Allie daily, I asked them if they would give me the little Terrier. The mom said that the dog was her son's and that he really would be devastated if she left. I left and put it out of my mind. I tried not to visit Allie every day, but I still did it.
A few months ago, the neighbor stopped me as I was walking by the house. He said that the terrier's owner wanted me to take the dog. The catch was that he thought the dog was pregnant. After discussing the situation with my Sweet Man, we decided to take Allie the next day. I went and picked her up the very next day. We got her to the vet and found out it was a false pregnancy. We got Allie spayed and brought her home.
She has been a wonderful new member of the family. We have brought her to visit her former people many times. They have come to the house a few times too.
We are glad she's a part of our lives.
Welcome Allie blogger friends!
Ciao
